Alexander Oey's 2006 stunning documentary on Crass, There Is No Authority But Yourself is currently streaming on The Daily Swarm. (And below). For those who don't know, Crass recorded their first album at Southern Studios, and John Loder who ran Southern was instrumental in helping the band to distribute and manufacture for their own record label, Crass Records. This relationship laid the ground work for Southern's subsequent stateside partnership with Dischord. In many ways, Loder and Crass were the godfather's of DIY and political anarcho-punk. Likewise, if it weren't for these people Chicago Independent would never have been born either.
